If you currently work, or intend to work in a school as a teacher, you will need to be registered with the Teacher Registration Board of the Northern Territory (the Board). The Board was established to administer the scheme for teacher registration and facilitate the continuing competency and quality of the teaching profession.
The registration of all teachers in the Territory occurs in accordance with the Act. The provisions in the Act ensure that only applicants who are fit and proper, appropriately qualified, and competent to teach are registered as teachers in the Northern Territory.
If you meet the eligibility criteria for registration, but are not currently working as a school teacher in the Northern Territory, you may still wish to apply for registration with the Teacher Registration Board of the Northern Territory. Teacher registration contributes to improving the quality, professionalism and status of the teaching profession in the Northern Territory.
