Description: Over the span of two days, the symposium explores advanced research in student motivation, engagement, and the interplay of perception and learning. The symposium will delve into key theories and traditional approaches in motivation and engagement research and introduces innovative methods including real-time technological and neuro-psychological analyses. The focus then shifts to the role of multisensory techniques in the context of literacy education, challenging traditional linguistics-based methods and incorporating insights from neuroscience. This includes examining advanced cognitive systems and their impact on learning through studies in Indonesia and China, using tools like ERPs (event related potential), fMRI (functional magnetic resonance imaging) or, in future, fNIRS (functional near-infrared spectroscopy). The symposium aims to showcase how this novel research can transform our understanding of student motivation and learning, with practical implications for enhancing educational practices.
